According to Law 50/1999, of December 23, on the Legal Regime for the Possession of Potentially Dangerous Animals, the following are classified as potentially dangerous dogs: Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffodshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro , Tosa Inu, Akita Inu and their crosses.

The possession of any animal classified as potentially dangerous will require prior obtaining of an administrative license, for which the corresponding medical certificate will be requested.

This license will be granted by the City Council of the municipality of residence of the applicant, or, with prior certification in this City Council, by the City Council in which the trade or training activity is carried out, once compliance with, at least, the following has been verified. requirements:

• Be of legal age and not be incapacitated to provide the necessary care to the animal.
• Not having been convicted of crimes of homicide, injuries, torture, against freedom or against moral integrity, sexual freedom and public health, association with an armed gang or drug trafficking, as well as absence of sanctions for violations regarding possession of potentially dangerous animals.
• Psychological aptitude certificate.
• Proof of having formalized civil liability insurance for damages to third parties that may be caused by your animals, for the minimum amount determined by regulation.
