How to recover driver's license points?

Have you lost driving license points and want to recover them? We tell you how to do it.

If you have not lost all your points and want to recover them, you have two options:

1. If two years pass without you losing more points you will have the initial 12 points again. But you will have to wait 3 years if the loss is for very serious infractions (6 points) if you want to have the initial 12 points. Therefore, your first option is not to commit any more infractions.
2. The second option is to take a course of partial recovery of points in awareness. It lasts 12 hours and you can recover a maximum of 6 points. You can take it once every two years or, if you are a professional driver, every year.

If you have lost all the points and therefore you have lost the validity of your driving license you must:

• Take a full driving license recovery course on road awareness and re-education, lasting 24 hours and which you can take for the duration of the loss of validity.
• Pass an exam on the course taken. At the end of the period of loss of validity, 6 months for drivers in general and 3 months for professional drivers, you must pass a theoretical test on the subject matter of the course taken. To take this test you must request an appointment for the exam at your Traffic Office and present, among other documents, a psychophysical aptitude report, which we can do at any of our centers in order to renew your driving license in Barcelona.

The new driver's license will have a balance of 8 points.
