DGT presents protected cycling routes
29 - 08 - 2017
Three protected routes per province have been delimited and the specific measures will be carried out during the days and hours of most prominent and usual presence of cyclists, which is usually Saturday mornings and holidays.
Some of the measures are: the temporary reduction of the maximum speed limit; on-site surveillance on these routes; 3,000 more patrols in July and August; preventive controls of alcohol and other drugs on these selected routes, as well as on their access roads; and DGT helicopter patrols will be included in these routes, among others.
In short, these measures are aimed at increasing road safety for all road users, making the road a place of coexistence, and strengthening a good road culture, a common space where everyone has their place.
